Week 9 Game Preview vs Beaumont

AF1 Week 9: Beaumont Renegades at Albany Firebirds
Friday June 5th - Kickoff 7:00 pm
The Albany Firebirds (7-0) look to stay undefeated as they stay at home for their week 9 matchup vs the Beaumont Renegades (2-4) for Educational Professionals Night presented by Transfinder. We are honoring teachers and staff and other educational professionals throughout the game this Friday.
Round 2
Albany will see the Renegades for the second time this year after meeting in week 2 in Beaumont. In their first matchup, Albany was able to come up with the win 55-27. Albany looked great in their week 8 matchup against Oceanside with a 36 point win. Beaumont is coming off of a bye week in week 8 and should be rested for this big-time matchup at Transfinder Field at the MVP Arena in Albany.
Firebirds Staying Hot
The Firebirds have been on fire recently on offense with another 60 point showing this past Saturday. Quarterback Sam Castronova has been locked in since coming back to Albany with 19 passing touchdowns without throwing an interception. New addition Agiye Hall made an instant impact as well for the team with six receptions for 73 yards and three touchdowns. He joins a loaded receiver room and will look to continue to produce against the Renegades.
Defensive Masterclass
The defense for Albany was elite this past week against Oceanside racking up seven sacks to go with three interceptions. Singleton leads the league in tackles this season with 62 tackles. Lineman Sha’Huan Williams and Qaadir Shepard are coming off big games and are tied with six sacks each on the season. Markus Smith is another league leader in the AF1, as he has five interceptions through the first seven games of the year.

Break for Beaumont
Beaumont was able to win their last game against Washington in week 7 42-35, before having a bye in week 8. Led by quarterback Andrew McBride, they will look to hand Albany their first L of the season. Albany will also have to keep watch for receiver Zuri Davis, who is currently fifth in the league in scoring with 72 points on the year with his 12 touchdowns through six games.
Fan Experience and Game Night
Albany will host their first Friday game of the year, this being the first of two in a row. The atmosphere is always fun and electric as the Firebirds continue their march towards perfection.
