Albany Firebirds 2027 In-Season Internship – Videography
Semester: Spring 2027 (January – End of August)
Location: MVP Arena, 51 S Pearl St, Albany, NY
Local Requirement: Must be local to the 518 area
Overview
The Albany Firebirds are seeking a creative, motivated, and passionate Videography Intern for the 2027 season. This hands-on opportunity provides experience within a professional football organization and is ideal for students or recent graduates looking to build a portfolio in sports videography, video production, editing, and digital content creation.
The Videography Intern will work closely with the Media and Partnership Activation teams to capture, produce, and edit video content for social media, sponsorships, marketing campaigns, promotional materials, game-day coverage, and other team initiatives.
All applications will be kept on file until the start of the internship program for which candidates apply.
Past Firebirds interns have gone on to work with or interview with organizations including the NFL, NHL, NBA G League, PLL, US Open, NLL, AHL, TBL, Frontier League, MiLB, MLB, Cosmic Sports, Savannah Bananas, and more.
Position Responsibilities
- Capture video during games, practices, community events, team functions, and special events.
- Produce and edit short-form social media videos, hype videos, player features, highlights, and behind-the-scenes content.
- Capture game action, player interviews, fan experiences, entertainment, and team content.
- Create video assets for sponsorship proof of performance and Partnership Activation.
- Assist with interviews, including camera setup, lighting, and audio.
- Assist with motion graphics, animations, transitions, and other visual effects.
- Prepare video assets for social media, web, in-arena displays, marketing, and promotional use.
- Organize and maintain digital video libraries and assets.
- Support the Media team with video needs and game-day content.
- Work in-office approximately two days per week for content planning, game preparation, meetings, and practice coverage.
- Collaborate with staff to maintain the Firebirds brand and visual identity.
- Other duties as assigned.
The Ideal Candidate Will Have
- Experience in videography, video production, or digital media.
- A portfolio demonstrating strong video work and editing.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, particularly Premiere Pro and After Effects.
- Strong understanding of camera operation, composition, lighting, audio, and editing.
- Familiarity with social media platforms and short-form video trends.
- Strong communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Willingness to learn and collaborate.
- Knowledge of football and professional sports preferred.
Internship Requirements
- Must be 18+ and local to the 518 area.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
- Ability to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and home games.
- Availability for designated office hours, practices, and events.
- Personal professional camera equipment and laptop preferred but not required.
- Background check required.
