Week 11 Preview vs Nashville

AF1 Week 11: Albany Firebirds vs Nashville Kats
Saturday June 20th - Kickoff 5:00pm
The Albany Firebirds (8-1) are on the road in week 11 taking on the Nashville Kats (7-1). This is the first of two road games for the Firebirds where they will take in the team currently in second in Nashville.
Championship Rematch
The matchup this Saturday is the first of two matchups between the teams for the season. This is also the first time the two teams have met since the 2025 AF1 Championship game where Albany was able to cap off their perfect season. This is a highly anticipated matchup with the top two teams going at it in a battle for home field advantage for the playoffs.
Albany is coming off a tough defeat to Michigan by a final score of 57-39. As for Nashville, they are coming off a dominant showing against Minnesota where they were up by four scores at one point. This is a clash of two of the best arena football teams and will be a must watch game
Firebirds Look to Bounce Back
Sam Castronova has been great since coming back to the Firebirds as he is fourth in the league in passing yards and third in passing touchdowns in his five games. The receiver room has also been top notch this season as well. Darien Townsend and Duane Brown have been great on the season to go with Isiah Scott, Agiye Hall, and Cameron Alves. This elite unit will look to continue their dominance in Nashville.
On the defensive side of the ball, the team will look to continue success against an offense that has been very successful. Linebacker Drew Singleton, who leads the league in tackles, will try to improve his lead and Defensive Back Marcus Smith will look to increase his total of five interceptions on the year.

Kats on Fire
Nashville has been playing some very good football recently and that has been led by quarterback Tyler Kulka. He is currently in second for yards and touchdowns only behind Malik Henry of the Michigan Arsenal. He has been in MVP conversations through the year and has made the offense of the Kats difficult to stop. Nashville also is led by receiver Malik Honeycutt who leads the league in yards and adds 13 receiving touchdowns to go along with it.
Defensively, they are led by lineman Jaquan Artis, who leads the team with six sacks. Nashville also has a handful of interceptions and have four players tied with two. Another player to watch will be kicker Kyle Kaplan, who is 45-48 on extra points and leads the league with 11 deuces.
Big Matchup
This matchup between these two teams will be very important in the league standings. A loss for either team could tie them up with the Kentucky Barrels. A win would allow that team to be in first place and hold home field advantage for now for the playoffs. This game will have massive implications on how the rest of the season plays out for both squads.
