Albany Firebirds Announce Partnership and Event with Regional Food Bank of Northeast New York Ahead of Upcoming Playoff Game

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Albany, NY — Thursday, July 23 — The Albany Firebirds are proud to announce our new community partnership with the Regional Food Bank of Northeast New York and to introduce the Rise Against Hunger Food Drive, which will take place at the Firebirds pre-game party from 2:00–4:00 PM before the playoff game on Saturday, August 1 at MVP Arena. In conjunction with the food drive, the Firebirds are hosting a press conference on Friday, July 31 at 1:00 PM at the Food Bank facility announcing the partnership. Following the press conference, Firebirds players, coaches, and front office staff will volunteer to assist with sorting and organizing donations.

Fans are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items, including canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, peanut butter, shelf-stable milk, personal care products, and baby essentials, helping every neighbor in need across the Capital Region and Northeast New York.

We're excited to partner with the Regional Food Bank for our food drive on August 1 and volunteer at their facility earlier that week to help make a positive impact throughout the Capital Region. We look forward to building a lasting partnership and continuing to support their mission for years to come,” said Firebirds Corporate Activations Manager Zach Soden.

“Many of our neighbors are facing unprecedented challenges as they continue to navigate the impacts of federal food cuts, new SNAP regulations, and rising costs,” said Tom Nardacci, CEO of the Regional Food Bank. “At a time when so many families are struggling to make ends meet, we are incredibly grateful for community partners like the Albany Firebirds, whose commitment to helping their neighbors makes a real difference.
