Our History
The Albany Firebirds have a rich history in the world of arena football. Originally founded in 1990, our team consistently captivated fans with its dynamic on-field performances and dedication to excellence for over a decade winning the coveted 1999 Arenabowl Championship over the Orlando Predators with a victory of 59-48! Unfortunately, a little over a 1 year later the franchise was relocated to Indiana on October 19, 2000. Over 20 years later the spirit of the Albany Firebirds is more alive than ever with the help of local ownership, political leaders, and most importantly our dedicated fans!
Our Mission
At the core of our mission is a commitment to uniting fans, players, and the community in a shared love for the game. We aim to create a family-friendly environment where the entire community can come together to enjoy the fast-paced, hard-hitting action of arena football. We are dedicated to inspiring the next generation of athletes and fans while fostering a sense of unity and pride in Albany. Most Importantly, The Albany Firebirds will stay committed to being out in the community, visiting Local School Districts, attending Local Events, going to fundraisers, and much more!

Our Venue
Our home is the state-of-the-art MVP Arena in Downtown Albany, the same building that hosted the Albany Firebirds from 1990 to the year 2000, Owned by Albany County and operated by ASM Global, the world's leading producer of entertainment experiences, MVP Arena has an adaptable seating capacity between 6,000 and 17,500. Since Frank Sinatra christened the building on January 30, 1990, more than eighteen million patrons have walked through the turnstiles. As a multi-purpose facility, MVP Arena has hosted a variety of events, including concerts, family shows, and sporting events, averaging 165 events each year. In 2000, MVP Arena ranked 14th nationally in total concert attendance, higher than arenas in Philadelphia and other major markets.
