Albany Firebirds Community Relations Internship – Fall 2025 (OFF-SEASON)
The Albany Firebirds Community Relations Department is seeking energetic, outgoing, and motivated individuals for our Fall 2025 Off-Season Internship Program. This internship offers hands-on experience in the sports industry, with a strong focus on event planning, community outreach, and fan engagement.
Interns will assist with organizing and executing Firebirds events throughout the Capital Region, supporting mascot appearances, making outbound calls and emails, and helping manage event logistics. You'll gain real-world experience by working in the Firebirds front office a minimum of 2 days per week, assisting with operations that help bring the Firebirds brand to life year-round.
While the focus is on community and events, interns will also support the media team with tasks such as creating social media posts, graphics, and press releases.
In addition to the responsibilities listed below, interns will be exposed to different departments within the Firebirds organization. This program is designed to be educational, skill-building, and immersive.
Please Note: This internship is unpaid and does not include housing or transportation.
Responsibilities
Assist with planning, setup, and execution of Albany Firebirds events
Make outbound calls and send emails related to events
Set up and manage promotional tables at appearances
Work with the Albany Firebirds mascot at community events
Schedule and coordinate mascot appearances and events (be available for community appearances with or as the mascot)
Work in-office 2 days per week (mandatory)
Support the media department with social media content, graphics, and press releases
Qualifications & Requirements
Internship runs approximately August–December 2025
Must be 18 years or older
Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Willingness to learn platforms like Canva, CapCut, and Adobe Suite
In-person only – remote opportunities are not available
Availability on some evenings and weekends as needed for events
All internship candidates must successfully pass a background check
Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information
