Firebirds Friday - FREE AGENCY

Firebirds Friday - FREE AGENCY
Welcome back Flock, to Firebirds Friday! This is a big week for the team as free agency has officially opened for the AF1. As players begin to sign to their new teams, we’ll be here to keep you in the loop on who is bringing their talents to Albany. This is a very exciting point of the offseason as Damon Ware looks to bring the team back to the Arena Crown Championship.

Who is Already in Albany
Albany has done a solid job retaining some key pieces from last year's team that was the second overall seed in the league. Quarterback Joshua Kulka starts a strong foundation to build off of. The receiver room is also already built for success in Albany as players Agiye Hall, Tyrese Chambers, and Cameron Alves will look to work with Kulka for the upcoming season. On the defensive side of the ball, defensive end Khris Walton has been brought back after a productive year. The team is off to a solid start this offseason with the team and will look to continue to add more over the coming weeks.

What is Needed
The Firebirds still have a lot of empty spots on the team that need to be filled before the season. The offensive line will look to be rebuilt after a strong year of play overall. There is possibly room for a fullback on the team, though the Firebirds played many games last year where Joshua Zacher would run the ball on designed plays. On defense, nobody in the secondary has been brought in yet for the team. This will be very important to be able to fill as many players unfortunately went down with injuries last year in this unit. Although that happened, Albany was still able to have many great players in the secondary that were able to make big plays through the end of the season. In the linebacker room, there could be some big shoes to fill if the team does not bring back Drew Singleton. Singleton led the league in tackles and was the leader for most of the season.

The Offseason Rolls on
Albany is off to a good start this offseason with bringing players back in for the upcoming season. There will be many new players that will likely be brought in over the next few weeks that will hope to help continue to bring success to the Capital Region.
