Albany Firebirds to Honor Purple Heart Recipient Sergeant Guillermo Renderos at This Saturday’s Home Game

The Albany Firebirds are proud to recognize Purple Heart recipient Sergeant Guillermo Renderos as one of the four Heroes of the Game during First Responders & Veterans Night presented by Patrol Finder on Saturday, May 30th at MVP Arena.

Originally from Yonkers, Sergeant Renderos has dedicated the past nine years to serving in the U.S. Army as a 91 Bravo Wheeled Vehicle Mechanic. Throughout his military career, he has been recognized for his commitment to technical excellence and mentorship, helping train and develop fellow Soldiers through hands-on instruction and leadership.

From 2023 to 2024, Sergeant Renderos deployed to Jordan in support of Operation Inherent Resolve, where he contributed to mission readiness while continuing to strengthen his leadership abilities in an overseas environment.

Before and during his military service, Sergeant Renderos also worked as a New York State Correction Officer and security officer. Those experiences helped shape the discipline, accountability, and strong sense of responsibility that continue to define both his military and personal life today.

As a combat veteran and Purple Heart recipient, Sergeant Renderos exemplifies resilience, dedication, and service to others. Outside of his professional responsibilities, he enjoys spending time with his wife and children, playing soccer and volleyball, and creating meaningful memories with his family. He credits them as the driving force behind his continued personal and professional growth.
