Albany Firebirds Re-Sign Quarterback Robert McCoy for 2026 Season

The Albany Firebirds are thrilled to announce that quarterback Robert McCoy will be returning for the 2026 season. McCoy served as the backup to QB Sam Castronova last season and saw action in multiple games, throwing for 328 passing yards, adding 18 rushing yards, and accounting for 15 touchdown passes during the regular season.

The AF1 Re-Signing Period is now underway, giving teams the opportunity to retain their rostered players until 11:59 PM on September 15th. McCoy’s return ensures depth and stability at the quarterback position as the Firebirds prepare for another championship-contending season. Players not re-signed by the deadline will become free agents.
